Hippity Hoppity!

Here comes Peter Cottontail
Hopping down the bunny trail
Hippity Hoppity Easter's on its way!

Childhood memory: There was a radio station with the call letters "WBAP" that my mom listened to sometimes...In our childlike minds (My siblings and I), we wondered what the letters stood for, and we came up with "White Bunnies Are Pretty." We'd pass by billboards advertising the radio station, and we'd all yell "White Bunnies Are Pretty!"....(I am one of 7 children).

It's Super Glam Bunny!!   I began with a paper mache bunny... painted her white... then covered her entirely in luxurious silk chiffon beaded & pearled fabric that was from a vintage formal evening gown...several different gowns, actually. I've pieced them together strategically to make this sweet bunny extra gorgeous and glam!

But that just wasn't enough....so I've decorated her in glitzy vintage rhinestone jewels! On her head is a crown-like set of jewels to accent her pretty face. Here necklace is a vintage rhinestone bracelet, and I hung a chandelier crystal for her pendant. Down her back are rhinestone chevrons....then around her sides & back are more rhinestones and a delicate chain draping down and sewn on to her necklace.

Look at her swirly little cottontail! Then I also made a sweet little nest of eggs also covered in beaded fabric and set it a pretty little silver bowl.....  Here are a few more pretties that I made for Easter.

Pinks and Blues and Yellows, OH MY!!

Aren't the sequins fabulous?!  So much fun creating these!  :)
Check back soon to see the decorated bottles I made in the same style, complete with an Easter egg stopper to go on top of the bottle.  Thanks for visiting my little blog-- so happy you are here!
Hugs, Catherine

Music Themed Christmas

Have you ever decorated in a themed Christmas Décor?
This is my first time.....Usually I love the traditional look, mixed in with vintage, and items from my own childhood.  But, hey, variety is the spice of life, isn't it?

Vintage sheet music is not very hard to find at flea markets.  So I put it to good use making rolled sheets of music.  Then I used cookie cutters to trace shapes of ornaments & cut them out with scissors.....I even used piano legs from an old piano in the vignette!!

I made rosettes and pinwheels too....

I found the piano legs at the Canton Flea Market in Texas.  The sellers told me that they couldn't even give the piano away for free.  So they sliced it up into pieces and sold the pieces.  I bought these two pieces/legs for $15.  Aren't they so pretty?  After Christmas, I think I'll hang them on a wall somewhere.

Behind this vignette, I hung a vintage evening gown.   As much as I love the all-white theme of some beautiful houses, I really love color also.  The wall behind this cabinet is yellow, so to get the neutral them of this vignette, I just used what I had on hand.  Vintage evening gowns are what I use to create many projects, so I used one of those.  Next fall, I'll use this gown to make ornate pumpkins.

The music pages are a great resource to make pinwheels and rosettes!!  They're fast, easy, and fun!  Glitter makes them even better!  Glitter Done!!

See the oh-so-pretty reindeer?

I began with a paper mache reindeer.  Covered him with pieces of beaded gowns and then added extra bling with vintage jewelry.  His antlers are covered in silver German glass glitter.  I was going to keep him for myself, but a friend called me after I posted his photo on facebook, and said she wanted to buy him. She now calls him "my precious!"   Well....I guess I'll make another one for myself!
Merry Christmas, Everyone!
Hugs, Catherine

Quoth The Raven

Quoth the Raven.....I am the Grand Pooba of Ravens!!     Sooooo......doesn't a Grand Pooba raven need a hat?  And a fancy hat at that?  Why yes, yes she does!  After making these pumpkins out of beaded fabric...I had a small pieces of fabric left over...enough to make a hat for this raven...or crow...or whatever...?.........Anyway, I just cut some cardstock in a cone shape, added the fabric, then some black trim and feathers....and VOILA!!

But that just wasn't enough!  So next I gave her a royal necklace!  Ha!  What's not to love?

Here she is, in all her raven glory!  Life is short -- go for the Bling!   Next to fancy shmancy silver pumpkins....and an ornate Halloween Haunted Mansion....complete with its own pretty ghostie!!
Well, then I am the Grand Pooba of Ghosties!!
The little ghostie.... I made her out of sequined fabric.  With such a fancy Haunted Mansion, I needed a fancy Ghost, too, don't you think?  Yep,  I made her out of a wooden thread spool, a wooden dowel stick, stuffing, and the sequined fabric.  You can see more details about her and the Haunted Mansion here.
Here is the whole vignette.

And by candle light in the evening
A few close ups...

This was the view of my foyer....I made the wreath a few years ago....
Just now realizing that my son's sunglasses are in these photos.....hmph....he's ruining the "Halloween-ness" of this vignette!  (To him, it's just the table next to the front door -- a place to deposit things when you walk in....)  .....Teenagers!  :0

Here I stand in all my Grand Pooba-ness!!!
Happy Halloween, Everyone!!
Hugs, Catherine

Bippidy Boppidy Boo!

Oh, where IS that fairy godmother?!

Right here, I say!  Need the plastic orange Halloween pumpkin decor to be transformed into Cinderella Worthy Pumpkins?  Voila!!

I made this over-the-top white pumpkin for a lovely lady who who was decorating a party for her adult daughter's birthday.  The aqua pumpkins below were for the same party....I want to go to a party like this!

I'm ready for my close up!
The lady's daughter was quite happy to be the guest of honor.  What a sweet mom she has to want to make this party so special for her.

Here are a few more pumpkins that I've made this year....

 Regal in purple....
 Smashing in Hot Pink!
 Fabulous in turquoise....

 Pretty in pink.....
Some are sold....some are available in my Etsy Shop.  All of them are made
from vintage beaded evening gowns.  All are one-of-a-kind.
As Cinderella's mom said in the most recent Cinderella movie:  "Have courage, and be kind."  Be kind to someone today; they just might need a little kindness.  You never know what kind of day/week/year they've had.  "Have courage, and be kind."
Hugs, Catherine
